Tips for Encouraging Verbal Communication in Young Learners

Parents can enhance the home language environment to help their children succeed. Here are many simple ways  : 
1. talk, and talk to children.  Engage them in meaningful conversation, and help them “use their words” to interact with other children.  Help build their vocabulary by using words they may not recognize.  Adding unfamiliar words to conversations can pique a child’s interest in learning additional words and discovering how to use them in conversation.  
2. Read to young learners.  Regularly reading a variety of texts to children—stories, poems, factual books about animals and the natural world—can expose them to countless new words.  It is even more fun by taking turns.  If our child has started to read, one day we can read to them; the next day, they can read to us.  Pre-readers can “read” a picture book out loud. 
3. Teach our young learners the joys of music!  Through learning new songs and singing, children can have fun while learning new vocabulary.  The rhythm of music provides cues that can help children pronounce multisyllabic words more easily, and because young children don’t have to worry about pronouncing every new word correctly when singing with others, they can build their confidence.

Young children are not like other students. their needs are unique and we  must be aware of this. It is important to understand that we could be one of the first adults a young child has interacted with outside of his or her own family. the separation from their parents in the beginning can be difficult, and a teacher must help them through this transition. a child can become very attached to you as a “substitute” for their parents, or they may shun you completely. great teachers are adaptable to the emotional reactions of their students. and when it comes to your students’ interactions with other children, this can be one of the first times they interact with children their age. a teacher’s role often becomes that of mediator when children have problems sharing or learning how to get along.

Furthermore, teachers in early education need to be creative and adaptive. they must think outside their own mature perspective and be able to place themselves in their students’ shoes. what motivates a very young child? how do we hold a toddler’s interest? how do we make learning fun? these are all questions we will have to ask ourself. lessons in early education classrooms are very hands-on. they involve arts and crafts, storytelling, exercise, educational games and more. we need to be fast on your feet and highly adaptable to continuously come up with new ways to guide children through their early learning stages.

Actually teach in elementary school is not easier. because we teach young children. It means that we have to work hard to teach them.
in my opinion, when we decide if early childhood education is right career choice for us, the first and most important question to ask ourself is: Do we like working with children? If we can’t answer yes, then this career may not be best for us. Working with children requires patience, dedication and sensitivity. Trying to keep up with them can be exhausting, but if  we’re up to the challenge, it can also be extremely rewarding.

Absolutely, when we teach in elementary school , there are 4 skills . Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing . I will give the example of each skill . The theme is profession . Check this out ..

I. LISTENING
1.  Melafalkan kosa kata baru
2.  Merespon ungkapan
Student listen the tape recorder. And mention what the speaker say correctly. The worksheet have to related with the theme (profession) . Example : Doctor, Fisherman, Police, etc. And then student have to repeat again what the speaker say correctly.

SPEAKING
1.  Melafalkan ungkapan memberi salam dan memperkenalkan diri
 2.  Memperkenalkan diri

Student listen to teacher’s questions. and Answer the questions based on the pictures. So, the teacher show picture to students, teacher say what based on picture, afterward student repeat again what teacher say before. Example : (1) Is your father a teacher?  The answer: No, he is not.

Introducing Oneself:
